The band is unsurpassed known for the song "How to Save a Life" which ranked in the top three of the Billboard Hot 100 and was as well a top 5 solo in Australia, Canada, Ireland, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.

The Fray also originated national victory with the song "Over My Head (Cable Car)", which peaked a top ten hit in the US and Canada. How to Save a Life was licensed twofold platinum by the RIAA and was also authorized platinum in Australia and New Zealand.

The Fray lately signed on for the 2008/2009 year as an diplomat for VH1's Save The Music Foundation. They showed their live performance at the American Music Awards on November 23, 2008.
