The band is unsurpassed known for the song "How to Save a Life" which ranked in the top three of the Billboard Hot 100 and was as well a top 5 solo in Australia, Canada, Ireland, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.

The Fray also originated national victory with the song "Over My Head (Cable Car)", which peaked a top ten hit in the US and Canada. How to Save a Life was licensed twofold platinum by the RIAA and was also authorized platinum in Australia and New Zealand.

The Fray lately signed on for the 2008/2009 year as an diplomat for VH1's Save The Music Foundation. They showed their live performance at the American Music Awards on November 23, 2008. The Fray was founded in 2002, and presently comprises of Isaac Slade (vocals and piano), Dave Welsh (guitar), Joe King (guitar and vocals and Ben Wysocki (drums and percussion).
