Jordan vow to bring Bobcats to greater heights as new team owner
ONE of the greatest professional basketball player of all time just added another feather on his illustrious career.
The National Basketball Association management lead by its commissioner David Stern has approved the recent deal allowing former Chicago Bulls superstar guard Michael "Air' Jordan to purchase and own the Charlotte Bobcats.
Stern said the NBA board has overwhelming approved the purchase of Jordan of the Bobcats from its previous owner Bob Johnson for $275 million.
With the NBA approval, Jordan became the first professional basketball player in the history of the sport and the NBA in general to own an NBA team after retiring from the game.
Jordan downplayed his status as the first player to own an NBA team saying his focused now is to make sure the Bobcats will be successful under his ownership and win its first ever championship.
As the new owner of the Bobcats, a lot of challenges await one of the most popular NBA player of all time one of whom is to turn around the six-year old franchise from mediocrity to success.

The NBA great also faces the arduous task of bringing back the trust of the Bobcats fans to the team to increase sales and revenues for the team which had been besiege with financial losses from its previous owner.
To ensure the success of the Bobcats under his leadership, Jordan this early vowed to worked harder and be involved on the operations of the Bobcats, part of whom is to spend more time with the team which he did not do as minority owner in the past.
The NBA superstar said like his previous stint as a multi-awarded player, he is ready to take the challenge to bring the team to the promise land of an NBA trophy as its new owner.
Part of the plan of the 47-year-old NBA owner is to assemble an all-star caliber team that can compete well against the powerhouses in the NBA like the Los Angeles Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers.
He said the team's victory against the Lakers and Cavaliers this season just showed that it is not anymore a pushover team in the premier professional basketball league in the planet.
Holding an NBA record of (35-32) the team is now on the verge of their first playoff berth.
The recent acquisition of NBA veteran and proven scorer Stephen Jackson also makes the team a contender if ever it eventually makes the NBA playoffs this season.
Jordan also intends to keep 69-year-old legendary head-coach Larry Brown, in his record ninth NBA head coaching job, to the team for years to come.
Recently, reports revealed that Brown is planning to leave the Bobcats and accept the head-coaching job for the Philadelphia Sixers to stay close to his family in the area.
The basketball superstar said he will do his best to keep Brown but if the latter decides to leave the team he will accept it and just move on to a different direction for the team.
With Jordan now as its owner, the countless fans of the Bobcats all over the globe are hoping and praying that good fortune will now come on their beloved NBA team.
