Shakira, Brazilian prexy vow help for Brazilian kids

Colombian singer Shakira has joined hands with Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff to help improve the welfare of children in Brazil.
Shakira made the pledge as she hooked up with Rousseff in the Brazilian capital of Brasilia prior to a scheduled concert.
In their brief meeting, both Shakira and the president discussed the work of Shakira's Alas Foundation, which promotes early-childhood development in Latin America.
To signify their partnership the singer gave Rousseff a guitar after the meeting.
It can be recalled that before coming to Brazil, Shakira inaugurated 20 childhood development centers in Argentina.

She has said she has plans to do similar work in Panama and Mexico.

Justin Bieber’s movie beat Michael Jackson’s concert movie at box office

In a rare feat, the concert movie of teen pop superstar Justine Bieber has beaten the concert movie of king of Pop Michael Jackson in the domestic box office race.
Based on the latest box office result, Bieber's Never Say Never" has now surpassed Jackson's This Is It to become the most successful concert-themed movie at the domestic box office.
According to reports, Bieber's movie has earned $72.2 million at the domestic box office.
Sony's "This Is It" grossed $72.1 million domestically.
However, This Is It still holds the worldwide record, having grossed $189.1 million overseas for a global total of $261.2 million.
Usually, concert films don't travel well.
"Never Say Never" has grossed $10.8 million at the international box office, a solid number, considering that the Jonas Brothers' concert film grossed only $4 million internationally, while "Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour" earned $5 million.
"Hannah Montana" grossed $65 million domestically.
Paramount insiders believe Justin Bieber could ultimately earn $20 million internationally. So far, the movie has done best in Latin America, where star's fan base is strongest.

Bieber was discovered in 2008 by Scooter Braun, who happened to come across Bieber's videos on YouTube and later became his manager.
Braun arranged for him to meet with Usher in Atlanta, Georgia, and Bieber was soon signed to Raymond Braun Media Group (RBMG), a joint venture between Braun and Usher, and then to a recording contract with Island Records offered by L.A. Reid.
His debut single, "One Time", released worldwide in 2009, charted in the top 30 in over ten countries.
His debut release, My World, followed on November 17, 2009, and was eventually certified platinum in the United States.
He became the first artist to have seven songs from a debut album chart on the Billboard Hot 100.
His first full studio release, My World 2.0, was released on March 23, 2010 and has since received similar success; it debuted at number one and within the top ten of several countries and was certified platinum in the United States.
It was preceded by the worldwide top-ten single, "Baby," in January 2010.

Beyonce replaces father as manager

R&B superstar Beyonce Knowles has decided to replace her father Matthew Knowles as her manager.
Matthew Knowles was sad by the decision of his daughter but still accepted his fate like any loving father.
“Business is business and family is family,” Mathew Knowles said.
The elder Knowles said he wished his daughter all the best in life and career now that a different person will be handling her professional career.
Beyonce, a multiple Grammy winning artist married to rapper Jay-Z, said she was “grateful for everything he has taught me.”

Born and raised in Houston, Texas, she enrolled in various performing arts schools and was first exposed to singing and dancing competitions as a child.

Shakira affirms romantic relationship with Spanish football star

Colombian pop star Shakira has admitted her romantic relationship with Spanish football star Gerard Pique.
Shakira made the admission in her twitter account.
“I present to you my sunshine Shak,” the 34-year-old singer wrote in the message accompanying a photo of the smiling pair.
Talks that Shakira and the 24-year-pld Barcelona center started after the two were seen holding hands and kissing each other in Barcelona, Spain recently.
Prior to her relationship with Pique, Shakira earlier announced the end of her 11-year relationship with Antonio de la Rua of Argentina.
The two started to become close with each other after Shakira’s wildly popular “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” was the official song of the FIFA World Cup 2010 in South Africa, won by Spain.
Pique, a member of the World Cup team, is shy about her relationship with Shakira saying he would rather talk about football than his love life.

Snoop Dogg to perform at Manchester Festival

Popular American rapper Snoop Dogg is among the illustrious artists who will perform at the prestigious Manchester International Festival opening on June 30, 2011.
According to reports, Snoop Dogg will perform a one-off show at the O2 Apollo, Manchester on July 15, when he will perform his debut album "Doggystyle" in its entirety.
It can be recalled that in 1993, Doggystyle went straight to number one in the U.S. album charts and was the then fastest-selling debut of all time.
In a press-statement, festival organizers revealed the event would also include live appearances from original featured guests including Daz Dillinger, Kurupt, RBX and The Lady of Rage.
Bjork will perform six shows for her first British dates in more than three years.
The offbeat pop star will present Biophilia, a multimedia project encompassing music, apps, internet, installations and live shows.
It will feature a specially designed pipe organ that accepts digital information and a 30-foot pendulum designed to harness the earth's gravitational pull to create "musical patterns."
Singer Damon Albarn of Gorillaz and Blur fame will feature with his new composition "Doctor Dee."
The work directed by Rufus Norris, centers on Doctor John Dee, a 16th century astrologer, alchemist, mathematician and spy who was a consultant to Queen Elizabeth I.
Moreover, it was learned that the Manchester International Festival is held every two years and showcases original works and special events.
The popular music event will run from June 30-July 17.

Snoop Dogg was a Crip gang member while in high school.
Shortly after graduation, he was arrested for cocaine possession and spent six months in Wayside County Jail.
His music career began in 1992 after his release when he was discovered by Dr. Dre.
He collaborated on several tracks on Dre's solo debut, The Chronic and on the titular theme song to the film Deep Cover.
Snoop's debut album, Doggystyle was released in 1993 under Death Row Records.
Doggystyle went quadruple platinum and spawned several hit singles, including "What's My Name" and "Gin & Juice".
In 1996, Snoop Dogg was cleared of charges over his bodyguard's 1993 murder of Philip Woldemariam.
His third album, 1996's Tha Doggfather, was his last release for Death Row before he signed with No Limit Records, where he recorded three albums from 1998 to 2001.
Snoop then signed with Priority/Capitol/EMI Records in 2002, which released his album Paid tha Cost to Be da Boss, and then he signed with Geffen Records in 2004 for his next three albums.
